DC Embassy Week 2026

Explore the world while staying in the DMV!

Okay, PG County moms — this one is for you. DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour kicks off this Saturday, May 2nd and if you haven’t been before, let me just say… you’re going to love it. Some many embassies are opening their doors to the public, completely free, from 9:30-10 AM to 5 PM.

You can experience an Ethiopian coffee ceremony or sample Japan’s famous street food — all without boarding a plane. It’s one of those days where you feel incredibly lucky to live so close to DC.

Volunteers teach visitors basic phrases in their native languages, and children often leave with their faces painted in national colors. There are live performances on stages at Dupont Circle and UDC — think cultural dances from Bolivia, Indonesia, Nepal, The Gambia, and more.

There can be alot of walking so I would definitely say this is better for older kids. A few more of my personal tips – Bring a jacket and water. Wear comfy shoes.

Here’s a fun little game to keep them going all day: make it a passport stamp challenge. You can grab a free souvenir passport at info booths at Dupont Circle, UDC Student Center, or the Mexican Cultural Institute and challenge your kids to collect as many stamps as they can. It keeps them motivated between stops!
