I love my mom but she is really starting to get on my nerves. Every single time she sees my baby she has something to say about how big she is getting.

I don’t know if she means it as a compliment or what but it’s starting to feel like a criticism and it’s getting under my skin. Am I being too sensitive?

You are absolutely not wrong. In my culture there is this thing where commenting on bodies is considered normal. I was in the same situation and finally just told my mom directly to stop. It was uncomfortable for about a week and then she stopped. Sometimes you just have to say it.

Not wrong at all. When I was in that situation I took this approach – I just say ‘doctor says he’s healthy’ and move on. Short, no debate, no openness for discussion
